Shopify Opens Crypto Payments to Merchants in New Deal with Crypto.com

Shopify Opens Crypto Payments

Shopify has entered into a deal with Crypto.com to allow merchants in the e-commerce platform to support cryptocurrency payments with more than 20 tokens.

The company has exempted the e-commerce merchants from paying transaction fees for one month as part of the deal. The news caused Shopify’s shares to surge 11% at 15.28 UTC.

The promotion will reportedly be valid to the Shopify merchants who register for the Crypto.com Pay as of June 30. The exchange has provided users with a signup link on its official website.

Shopify’s head of blockchain, John Lee, says that the growing cryptocurrency payment shows the firm’s commitment to giving merchants alternative payment methods.

The news follows an announcement by payment platform Strike of Bitcoin Lightning payments integration with Shopify in April. The feature allows merchants to accept crypto through BitPay and Coinbase Commerce.
