Polkadot co-founder Gavin Wood donated around 298,367 DOT tokens or $5.8 million on Tuesday, the day that Ukraine announced that it will accept the cryptocurrency.
The support for DOT comes days after the government started accepting donations in Bitcoin, Ethereum, and USDT.
The government says it will soon add other cryptocurrencies amid calls by the crypto community for more options in support of the country’s fight against invasion by Russia.
Wood had previously said that he would personally donate $5 million if Ukraine allowed contributions in DOT tokens.
After opening the DOT donations, more than $210,000 worth of crypto contributions to Ukraine have been made.
Wood’s share is now over 10% of the total crypto contributions to Ukraine, with over $37 million already having been donated. Other crypto CEOs, including FTX’s Sam Bankman-Fried and Chain.com’s Deepak Thapliyal have also made personal contributions.
