OpenSea Investigates a Phishing Hack

OpenSea is investigating a phishing attack on its Discord server that sought to promote a scam NFT mint.

The marketplace has asked users not to click on any links on the Discord, saying the network was currently checking for possible vulnerability.

The hackers reportedly announced that a mint pass was being offered in partnership with YouTube. It further directed users to click the link that contained the word YouTube but was found not to be the official site.

The fraudulent message shared in the communication channel has since been hidden from the users, with no information about the losses incurred.

The news follows a similar announcement from Bored Ape Yacht Club’s discord server, which was hacked with links to fake giveaways. The Bored Ape Instagram account was also breached, leading to $2.8 million of NFT losses.
