Imax Corp. (IMAX) proudly announced on Wednesday that it had experienced its most successful July in box office history, thanks to the phenomenal performance of the summer blockbuster film “Oppenheimer.” With a staggering $176.2 million in global box office revenue for the month of July, Imax shattered its previous record of July 2019 by an impressive $52.1 million.
Directed by the renowned Christopher Nolan and filmed using Imax cameras, “Oppenheimer” has already amassed over $86 million across Imax theaters worldwide, with several weeks remaining in its initial Imax run. Additionally, the movie grossed an impressive $4.1 million on Monday alone.
To cater to the overwhelming demand, Imax has extended the global run of “Oppenheimer” for an additional week until Aug. 17. Furthermore, the company has plans to continue showcasing “Oppenheimer” through late summer and fall, ensuring that audiences will have ample opportunities to experience the film on the giant Imax screens.
Despite the incredible success, Imax shares are currently down 2% in premarket trades on Wednesday. However, the company remains optimistic about its future prospects and is thrilled to have achieved such remarkable milestones in the world of cinema.
