Dogecoin co-creator Billy Markus recently disclosed his DOGE holdings, further adding that he has a lot of respect for developers who are still dedicating their time and expertise to it.
In a Tweet thread on December 27, Billy Markus told his followers that he does not represent Dogecoin.
Markus, who refers to himself as Shibetoshi Nakamoto on Twitter, reaffirmed that he is no longer directly working in the development of Dogecoin, indicating that he is a community member.
Markus also disclosed that he holds nearly 220,000 DOGE. At the prevailing Dogecoin price of $0.182009, Markus’ holding is valued nearly $40.041.98.
Markus created Dogecoin with Jackson Palmer in 2013 based on the Shiba Inu meme as a spoof of the world’s largest cryptocurrency, Bitcoin. Painfully, he disposed of all the Dogecoin he owned in 2015 after losing his job and used the cash to buy a Honda Civic.
In 2021, Dogecoin had a successful year, largely to the endorsements from Tesla and SpaceX CEO Elon Musk.
