AMC Theaters CEO Adam Aron says Dogecoin and Shiba Inu will be added as payment methods by March 19th. Mobile users can use the meme coins to pay in mid-April.
In a tweet, AMC CEO said that the movie theater had partnered with BitPay, setting it on course to the acceptance of the meme coins.
The announced move happens amid pressure by AMC customers for the acceptance of Shiba Inu and Dogecoin.
The acceptance of the two leading meme coins adds to the growing reception of cryptocurrencies by the movie theater, which already allows clients to buy tickets and other goods using bitcoin, ether, and other assets.
AMC had initially allowed Dogecoin for digital gift cards only and promised to allow Shiba Inu later as it worked on the technical aspects.
