This network uses a proof of history validation mechanism where you can add new blocks to the network without any communication between the nodes. This is only possible because there is a clock for each node.
Since consensus is reached without communication between nodes, the transaction speed is enhanced drastically. The transactions are sent to the authenticators even before they are introduced. With Solana, you can execute a large number of smart contracts simultaneously, which saves both time and money. Furthermore, to address bandwidth problems, the network splits up the nodes into smaller blocks.
