What is Mysterium?

Mysterium is an open-source, peer-to-peer protocol built for data access and privacy. The platform provides the tools for information access and data protection. Mysterium users can use their devices as nodes and lend extra bandwidths or IP addresses in exchange for tokens. The protocol allows users to manage accounts via smart contracts on the Ethereum blockchain.  

Mysterium comprises decentralized databases, service providers, service clients, and decentralized service infrastructure. The decentralized services infrastructure enables nodes to share value in smart contracts. The Mysterium VPN is suited to multiple devices and allows developers to deploy their products globally. The platform’s service providers layer features the Mysterium nodes that work as a VPN.

MYST is an ERC20 token with an ERC2612 function that powers the Mysterium platform. There are 20,033,628 circulating MYST tokens from a total supply of 32,433,365 and a matching hard cap. MYST is used to make payments on the platform and reward node operators. The token can be staked in the Mysterium Delegation Pool for DAI stablecoins. Node operators also stake MYST to validate transactions.
