Tether Gold is a cryptocurrency that is pegged to real gold. One XAUt token is valued equally to a troy fine ounce of gold on a London Good Delivery bar. A user can send the token from the Tether wallet, where it is issued after purchase.
Specific gold bars are linked to each on-chain account, where Tether Gold is based. The token holders have an undivided ownership stake in the asset on the gold bar. The gold has a distinct serial number based on its purity and weight. XAUt gives holders exposure to the commodity without the cost of handling the real asset.
XAUt is an ERC-20 standardized token based on the Ethereum protocol. There are 105,549,09 circulating XAUt tokens from an uncapped supply of 105,549. The token can be seamlessly transferred to any supported address globally. Token holders can redeem the asset for physical gold by completing KYC procedures and having the minimum amount of XAUt. The digital asset is traded in exchanges in respective permitted fractions.
