What is Serum?
Serum is a decentralized, permissionless network operated on Solana. The network benefits from the POH consensus algorithm, with transactions of up to 50,000 TPS and 400 milliseconds block time in Solana. Network users can build using Serum’s on-chain core limit order book to share liquidity and support features. The platform order book matches sellers and buyers based on their orders.
Unlike other DEX using the Automated Market Maker system, Serum allows users to retain full custody of their orders. The platform’s cross-chain feature supports tokens running on other networks.
SRM is the native token at Serum. The circulating supply is 133,231,781 SRM out of 1,092,844,982 total supply and a hard cap of 10,161,000,000 SRM. SRM serves governance and utility purposes. The token is completely integrated into Serum to benefit from purchasing or burning of transaction fees. The exchange settlement charges go back to the protocol through staking rewards and grants.
Serum was unveiled in 2020 and is collaborating with Alameda Research, FTX, and the Solana Foundation.
