What is Quant?
Quant is an interoperability protocol that links blockchains and enterprise networks. The blockchain uses Distributed Ledger Technologies and Application Programming Interface connectors to power communication across networks using an in-built Overledger API gateway. The technology enables Quant to connect decentralized networks regardless of their specified DLTs. Overledger is used by developers and enterprises to create decentralized multi-chain applications for users.
Overledger Enterprise protocol is Quant’s primary product built for corporations to connect their systems to public blockchains. The architecture uses REST API with a simplified interface connected to multiple blockchains. Quant’s Overledger technology supports multi-ledger tokens, which are digital assets held in various forms and used across multiple distributed ledgers.
QNT is the native token powering the Quant blockchain. There are 12,072,738 circulating QNT tokens from a total supply of 14,612,493 and a matching hard cap. Developers and enterprises use the token to acquire licenses for operating the protocol. A user must hold a given amount of QNT to build interoperable applications on Quant. In the process, the tokens are locked for a year in layer two payment channels.
Quant debuted in 2018, founded by Gilbert Verdian, Colin Paterson, and Paolo Tasca.
