What is Elrond?
Elrond is a safe and scalable blockchain network that facilitates the creation of decentralized applications and digital assets. It was introduced in 2017 by Lucian Mincu, Beniamin Mincu, and Lucian Todea. It is one of the best order execution speeds and can execute as many as 15,000 orders in a second. The native crypto coin EGLD serves the purpose of facilitating trades, and members can use them for voting and staking as well.
By employing the adaptive state sharding technique, it is able to process orders parallelly. This involves dividing the network into small fragments, each executing a small portion of the orders. The virtual machine of this network allows for the execution of smart contracts. Programmers can use different languages like Typescript, C#, C, C++, and Rust.
The consensus model used by this network is known as secure proof-of-stake. It negates the waste generated during proof-of-work by merging the eligibility and staking processes. A miner who has staked a large number of coins staked for a long time has a higher probability of building a block. The consensus group often undergoes random sampling
