What is Ardor?
Ardor is a blockchain-as-a-service multi-chain protocol built based on Nxt blockchain, a proof-of-stake platform launched in 2013. The platform works in a parent and child architecture. The system combines APIs and lite Java smart contracts to enable enterprises to deploy custom protocols. Every child chain on Ardor protocol is linked to the off-chain databases while using the parent’s decentralized chain to secure transactions via a network of nodes.
Ardor staking process is called Forging, and holders of at least 1 unit of native ARDR tokens are eligible. Users can also choose the Node Reward Program by setting up a node with API and peer ports available to the internet and open to the public via a static IP address.
There are currently 998,999,495 circulating ARDR tokens from a total supply of 998,999,495 and a matching hard capitalization. The total token supply was distributed to Nxt token holders at a ratio of 1:1 as per the account balance from 14 July and 13 October 2016. The tokens on the Nxt protocol were subsequently redeemed at a 1:1 ratio for the ARDR tokens during Ardor’s mainnet launch in 2018. Ardor was launched in 2016 with Kristina Kalcheva, Lior Yaffe, and Petko Petkov as the co-founders.
