Solana blockchain has reported a network outage that lasted for 4 hours and 10 minutes due to a bug that stopped block production, causing SOL tokens to fall 11% in the past day.
Solana co-founder Anatoly Yakovenko says that the technical challenge was caused by a bug with a durable nonce feature. The executive added that the hitch caused a portion of the blockchain to perceive the block as invalid, and no consensus could be reached.
The network validators have since restarted the network, and the durable nonce feature has been disabled. Yakovenko has also noted that the bug will be fixed in a future update.
Solana is a blockchain protocol that supports decentralized applications, decentralized finance, and NFTs. The technical problem follows a similar outage on April 30, when the network crashed after an NFT minting bot incident.
