Social media platform Meta has rolled out tests from its virtual reality game, Horizon Worlds, with tools for developers to monetize their content in a metaverse experience.
The company is extending the service through a $10 million Horizon Creators fund announced in October last year.
The program will reportedly allow a few developers to trade virtual items that will open for Americans and Canadians above 18 years.
Meta adds that the creators whose virtual world will become popular will get monthly bonus payouts, where the program will not attract fees. The project is expected to have between 25% to 70% in the virtual goods marketplace.
Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg says that the function of buying and selling virtual items and transferring from one world to another will be critical in the future aspects of the metaverse.
Meta maintains that the virtual space will open new frontiers and enable businesses and individuals to create livelihoods with its unlimited space.
