El Salvador Marks Special Occasion with 21 Additional Bitcoins

El Salvador Marks Special Occasion

El Salvador has purchased 21 more bitcoins with the country’s President, Nayib Bukele, saying that it marks the 21st day of the 21st year in the 21st century.

Bukele adds that the country’s size is also 21,000 square kilometers, a further coincidence as he posted transaction receipts.

The BTC holding of the Central American nation now stands at 1,141 bitcoins from the previous 1,120 before the new purchase.

The value of the purchased tokens is estimated at $1,036,000 and also marks the capped bitcoin supply of 21 million.

The Central American country is reportedly planning to add another $500 million worth of the largest cryptocurrency asset via a $1 billion tokenized bond issuance.

El Salvador declared bitcoin as a legal tender in September amid plans to create a city based on the token.
