Countries to Discuss Bitcoin

The president of El Salvador, Nayib Bukele, has announced that 44 countries will converge in the country on Monday to deliberate on bitcoin, among other issues.

Bukele notes that 32 central banks and 12 financial authorities will meet to deliberate on the financial inclusion, digital economy, and banking for the unbanked.

The central bank and authorities expected in the meeting are from developing economies, including Egypt, Pakistan, Kenya, Rwanda, and Madagascar, among others. The announcement is yet to reveal other issues that the meeting will cover.

El Salvador was the first country to make bitcoin a legal tender in September last year. The Central American nation has amassed more than 2,000 bitcoins worth about $60 million at the latest price.
