Coinbase Reinforces Security with Ledger Hardware Wallets Support

Coinbase

Coinbase cryptocurrency exchange has announced support for Ledger hardware wallets in a partnership deal set for next year.

The new partnership would enable users of the Coinbase Wallet browser to link their Ledger hardware wallet and have self-custody and total control of their assets.

The initial phase of the partnership is set to start in the first quarter of 2022, with the exchange’s mobile application also planning to back Ledger.

Coinbase Vice President of product Max Branzburg says that the platform is committed to ways of enhancing the safety of Coinbase Wallet.

The news comes after the second-largest exchange’s Chief Financial, Alesia Haas, revealed in a congress hearing that Coinbase controls 12% of all the crypto across 150 asset classes.

Ledger is a Paris-based supplier of cryptocurrency cold hardware wallets that keep users’ private keys more securely compared to the hot online wallet.
