Chipotle Adds Crypto Payments in Partnership With Flexa

Crypto Payments

American fast-food chain Chipotle Mexican Grill has announced that it will start accepting cryptocurrencies as a payment option in a deal with Flexa.

The announcement notes that customers can use the Flex application to pay for food orders across the more than 3,000 Chipotle restaurants in the US under the new offering.

Customers who use the service must have Gemini or SPEDN apps. The clients can then use the app to tap it in-store when completing their transactions.

The news comes as many large food chains join the crypto frenzy. Subway began accepting bitcoin in 2013, while Pizza Hut entered the space in 2020. Starbucks currently lets customers convert crypto-cash balances in its app through third parties.

Chipotle started a virtual restaurant on Roblox for Holloween in 2021. Flexa is a digital payment company that supports almost 100 tokens, including BTC and ether.
